Durban – A woman, upset due to a family feud, allegedly set a car on fire in the Durban CBD on Monday morning.

Durban Search and Rescue were dispatched to Treves Court in McArthur Street, Albert Park, after the fire began to spread.

It is understood the woman was allegedly involved in a family feud and that, in a fit of rage, she set a VW Polo alight.

The vehicle had been parked in a ground floor garage, which doubled as a storage area.

Several second-hand appliances which were being stored in the area caught on fire.

A search and rescue officer pulled the burning vehicle out onto the roadway using a winch and the fire department extinguished the blaze before it could spread to the rest of the building.

No injuries were reported.

Police are investigating a case of arson but no arrests have been made yet.
