Johannesburg - Four Johannesburg metro police officers have been arrested for alleged corruption, officials said on Wednesday.

“The JMPD internal affairs unit caught one of them on Monday while the other three were caught yesterday (Tuesday),” spokesperson Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said.

The first officer was caught allegedly taking a R20 bribe from a minibus taxi driver near Hillbrow.

“The other one was caught with a R150 bribe after he threatened a street vendor selling ironwork in Kibler Park, and the other two were caught with a R50 bribe after threatening a taxi driver who was busy towing another taxi.”

All four were charged with corruption, and would appear in court after an internal investigation. - Sapa
