King William’s Town - Preliminary investigations are being conducted into the rape of a 100-year-old woman in the Eastern Cape, police said on Friday.

Captain Jackson Manatha said a man was taken in for questioning in King Williams town on Monday, but was released pending the results of forensic tests.

The partially blind woman was allegedly at her home in Holela Village on Saturday, said Manatha.

“The victim's granddaughter noticed the suspect in her grandmother's yard when she returned home that evening,” he said.

The man had not been charged. - Sapa
