More than 600 police officers have been arrested in Gauteng since April last year.
A 34-year-old police sergeant was found dead with several bullet wounds at his home in Kanyamazane near Nelspruit, Mpumalanga police said on Friday.
The body of Sergeant Thabo Lekhuleni was discovered on Friday morning and his firearm was missing, spokesman Lt Col Leonard Hlathi said.
“He had bullet wounds to his head and shoulder. The motive for the shooting is unknown.”
