Cape Town - Police have yet to make any arrests after the most recent vigilante killing in Cape Town.
Police spokesman FC van Wyk said two men -one dead, one wounded - were last week found near railway lines in Philippi.
The latter was rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Cases of kidnapping, attempted murder and murder are being investigated but no arrests have been made, he said.
“We would like to urge community members to refrain from taking the law into their own hands. No one has a right to take someone’s life because by doing so they themselves become criminals. Those who continue to do such actions will be prosecuted,” Van Wyk warned.
“We would encourage community members to always report criminal activities to the police.”
The latest death comes after a string of mob killings. Ten days ago in Harare, Khayelitsha, three alleged robbers were stoned to death at a tavern after the trio were allegedly poised to rob the venue for a second time.
Another two men were severely injured and seven suspects arrested. They remain in custody after initial court appearances.
