Administration staff affiliated to the Police and Prisons Civil Rights Union (Popcru) will go on strike on Thursday, the union said.
The police had failed to meet the demands they made during a series of marches in May and June, Popcru spokesman Theto Mahlakoana said in a statement on Monday.
“The police management has shown absolute disregard for the needs of the administrators and other workers employed under the (Public Service Act), despite existing legal documents forcing the employer to improve their conditions,” Mahlakoana said.
“Popcru is demanding, on behalf of these workers, that (SA Police Service) management should implement a department of public service and administration directive which would upgrade the levels of all admin staff in line with other public service departments.”
Mahlakoana said the police had consistently failed to implement a 2011 agreement to employ workers who fell under the Public Service Act under the SAPS Act instead.
