Cape Town - Motorists stopping to buy grapes from informal vendors along the N1 at De Doorns are putting their health at risk, police have warned.
Stolen grapes covered with insecticide are being sold, while some motorists have reported they had been robbed, police spokesman FC van Wyk said on Thursday.
“The illegal selling of grapes on the national road has become a growing concern. At the same time, an increase in robbery incidents has also been reported along the N1 highway by motorists who stopped to buy these grapes.
“Not only is the selling and buying of these grapes unlawful, but it also holds a health risk, as some of these grapes are not of a healthy standard,” he said.
