Cape Town – A brave cop has nabbed two knife-wielding suspects who robbed a woman and stabbed a commuter on a train.

Sergeant Marlon October, a member of the Rapid Rail Unit, was on his way to work on Monday when the incident occurred.

Police spokesperson, Captain FC van Wyk, says October took the 5:10am train from Strand to Bellville.

Between Somerset West and Firgrove railway stations, he heard a commotion and saw two men armed with knives robbing a woman.

He says another commuter who intervened was stabbed in his left arm when he kicked a suspect from behind, trying to stop the robber from stabbing the woman.

“Sergeant October drew his firearm and ordered the two robbers to drop their knives and lie down on the floor," he says.

“He arrested the two suspects and, with the help of commuters, removed them from the train at Faure Station where he was helped by a colleague with transport to the Somerset West Police Station, where he detained the suspects.”
