“The Butcher of Nine Mile” who stabbed a pregnant woman more than 100 times is HIV positive.

Michael Fusa made his second court appearance on Monda after his dramatic arrest for the murder of Phumeza Ndolo, 25.

He stabbed the four-month pregnant woman 148 times when he learnt she was having another man’s baby.

The Daily Voice can also reveal the 31-year-old Philippi man is HIV positive and he is hoping his status will see his case dealt with swiftly.

But prosecutors and pretty Phumeza’s family are demanding Fusa spend double life terms behind bars because he took the lives of a young woman and her unborn child.

Phumeza’s father Lunga Dlulisa, 48, was outraged and hurt as he emerged from Mitchell’s Plain Magistrates’ Court.

“I feel very sad. He made sure she was dead when he stabbed her 148 times. He must get double life for what he did,” he exclaimed.

“And I want to know why he did this. I want to speak to him face to face.”

Prosecutors are now set to prove Fusa planned the gory September 8, 2011, murder by luring Philippi hairdresser Phumeza to Nine Mile Beach in Strandfontein.

They say he then savaged her body, hacking into her 148 times before burying her in a shallow, sandy grave.

Fusa, who is currently being held at Strandfontein Police Station, last week informed the court he wished to point out the scene of the murder.

But State prosecutor Vukile Gontsana revealed he would not do so unless his lawyer was present.

Just then Magistrate Tom Cloete called for Fusa’s legal aid lawyer Aamina Masoet to consult with him whether he still wished to point out the murder scene.

But when Fusa and Masoet emerged from the court holding cells, she shockingly revealed her client was intending to plead guilty and to abandon his bail application.

“My client will no longer be pointing out the crime scene,” she said.

“My client will be pleading guilty and abandoning his bail application.

“He will enter into plea negotiations with the State.”

Sitting down, a shocked Gontsana whispered to himself: “That is a life sentence.”

Masoet further revealed Fusa is HIV positive and was in need of medical attention.

But Gontsana insisted Fusa was facing a hefty charge for a premeditated murder.

“The deceased was stabbed 148 times,” said Gontsana.

Even Magistrate Cloete appeared stunned by this and repeated “148 times”.

Gontsana said the State would not be completely satisfied until Fusa handed over DNA samples.

He said evidence found would be matched with Fusa’s blood.

Outside court, Phumeza’s cousin Thandeka Handi said: “He is sick and he must go to jail for life because he took two lives.”

On Monday, the Daily Voice revealed how Fusa helped family to identify Phumeza’s body at Salt River Mortuary.

And that he allegedly made his mistake when he told her dad he had seen stab wounds on Phumeza’s stomach at the morgue, when only her head and shoulders were viewed.

The family were searching for Phumeza after she failed to return a day after she refused a date with Michael

Fusa is due back in court this Friday.
