Paramedics say a girl has died and five people injured when a bakkie crashed into the back of a stationary bakkie at the side of the N12, outside Witbank.
A medical doctor has been arrested after an accident that claimed two lives in Cullinan, east of Pretoria, Gauteng police said on Sunday.
The speeding doctor crashed his Mercedes-Benz onto the back of a bakkie on the R513 around 6pm on Saturday, spokesman Johannes Jafta said.
“The bakkie overturned a few times, killing two people on the scene,” he said. Six others were taken to a nearby hospital in a serious condition.
The doctor, in his early 40s, was not hurt.
“Jafta said he was arrested on the scene and released on R1000
bail, but could not immediately reveal the charges he faced. He was expected to appear in court soon.
The occupants of the bakkie were travelling to a church in Mamelodi, east of Pretoria, when the crash happened. - Sapa
