Principal accused of showing pupil porn

Johannesburg - A Grade 10 pupil at a Kagiso school claims her school principal showed her pornography and a teacher called her a stripper, the Sowetan reported on Friday.

Problems began two weeks ago when a teacher told the principal the 15-year-old girl was stripping in front of pupils in class during school hours, the girl told the newspaper.

The principal then asked to see her.

“He asked if I was a virgin and if I had a boyfriend... He then told me that from looking at me could see that I had had sex,” she was quoted as saying.

When the principal saw her again he allegedly touched her breasts and face.

The next time the girl was called into the principal's office he allegedly showed her pornography clips on a cellphone.

When the principal later saw the girl's mother at the school, he told the 15-year-old not to tell anyone what had happened. He allegedly threatened to fail her if she did not break up with her boyfriend.

When the girl told her mother and they attempted to open a case at the Kagiso police station, the mother was told there was not enough evidence.

However, station commander Brigadier Sipho Ngubane told the Sowetan they could open a case.

The principal said he was being set up and denied showing the girl pornography.

The girl's family lodged a complaint at the Gauteng education department's district office, the Sowetan reported.

“The family has to submit a report to the district office on Monday, and a disciplinary inquiry will be opened,” department spokesman Charles Phahlane said. - Sapa
