Johannesburg - About 18 people including two police officers were injured on Tuesday morning when a police truck carrying prisoners collided with a taxi full of passengers.
The accident happened near the Johannesburg Prison and it is believed that the prisoners were being taken to court at the time.
A 34-year-old man who was at the scene, fuming, said the truck driver caused the accident.
The man, who declined to be named, said he was in front of the taxi on the Golden Highway, and was turning right into Main Road in Naturena when the truck approached, saying it failed to stop at the stop sign.
Emergency services workers said two people suffered serious injuries. It was not known at the time of publication how many passengers had been injured.
