Durban - A suspected hijacking and rape has left a 25-year-old Durban woman severely traumatised, following her abduction from the Bluff area on Tuesday.
The woman was reportedly driving in the Bluff on Tuesday morning when she was accosted at a petrol garage by two men.
According to police reports, the two approached the woman and pointed a firearm at her, then got into the car and instructed her to drive. What happened next is still unclear.
Messages of the woman’s disappearance, including a description of her car and registration number, were posted on Twitter.
Police found the woman and her car hours later in Marlin Street, Isipingo. She was then taken to a local hospital.
The woman’s father was unaware of the exact details but said that his daughter was “traumatised”.
Police spokesman Thulani Zwane confirmed that a case of rape and hijacking had been opened at Wentworth SAPS, and that the matter was under investigation.
