Pretoria - A senior prosecutor and her son were assaulted and robbed in their home in Waterkloof, Pretoria, Beeld reported on Monday.

Marian van der Merwe, 53, and her son Rohan, 18 were held up by two armed men wearing balaclavas on Wednesday night.

They hit her on her head with a firearm and kicked and tazered her, before tying her hands and feet with cable ties.

Her son was also tied up, assaulted with a firearm and had one of his teeth cracked when the men kicked him in his mouth.

The men then fled with his car, jewellery, a television set, cellphones and Van der Merwe's laptop which belonged to the National Prosecuting Authority.

The car was later found in Sunnyside by a vehicle recovery service.
