Johannesburg - A protest by residents of Vlakfontein informal settlement, near Lenasia south of Johannesburg, has caused the closure of the Golden Highway on Thursday night, metro police said.
“The protesters are violent and burning tyres. It is therefore not safe for motorists to pass,” said Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar.
“If they are going to Ennerdale or Orange Farm, they are advised to use the R554 or the N1 as alternative routes.”
