Pretoria - Pretoria people from all walks of life made a turn at the Pretoria High Court on Monday to get a glimpse of murder-accused paralympian Oscar Pistorius.

He was appearing in connection with the death of his model girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in February last year.

Petros Sotjhajha from the North West said he always saw Pistorius on television but wanted to see him in real life.

"I want to see him in person for once" he said.

Pupils lined up the fence of the court upon their return from school. Some journalists were having lunch, watching the proceedings on television.

Caroline Maleka, a student, said she was there to witness the trial.

"I bunked business class to be here because what he did is a disappointment for a lot of people."

"It's a disgrace how he explained everything," she said.

Some were positioning their cameras near the court exit for chance to get picture of the families when the court adjourns for the day.

Traffic was starting to pick up as people were leaving work.
