The affordable education loan option
Johannesburg - Two pupils at the Azara High School in Lenasia have been suspended for allegedly assaulting a teacher, the Gauteng education department said on Thursday.
“The two grade eight learners (are) suspended pending a disciplinary hearing,” the department said in a statement.
“Counselling has been arranged for both learners and the teacher. The department is also monitoring the situation to ensure stability.”
The department denied reports that the two pupils had been told to leave the school at the end of the year.
“A learner can only be expelled by the head of department and only if found guilty of serious misconduct after disciplinary proceedings were conducted by the SGB (school governing body).”
