East London - A R10 000 reward is being offered for information about the stabbing of lawyer Dali Mpofu in East London, Eastern Cape police said on Thursday.

“A reward of up to R10 000 will be paid to anyone who can assist the police with information that may lead to the arrest and successful conviction of the perpetrators,” Brigadier Marinda Mills said.

Two people robbed and stabbed Mpofu, who is representing miners involved in last year's police shootings in Marikana, North West, while he was walking on a beach in the city on April 11.

The former SABC CEO was released from hospital three days later and advised not to travel by air because of damage to his lungs.

Mills urged anyone with information that could help with the investigation to contact police. - Sapa
