Polokwane - Limpopo police on Wednesday said a reward of R200 000 was being offered for information which could lead to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons who murdered a pensioner in Seshego, near Polokwane in January.

The mutilated body of 62-year-old Mapula Margaret Malatji was found near the Seshego dam a few metres from her house.

According to police, the deceased left her house at Zone 4 Seshego on January 29, 2016, at approximately 5am to collect her ID card from the Department of Home Affairs in Polokwane.

She never returned home and her body was found wrapped in a plastic bag next to the Seshego Dam at 9am the next day.

“The body of the deceased was cut in half, separating the upper and lower body and several body parts were removed,” said police spokesman Ronel Otto.

Anyone with information was requested to contact Lieutenant Colonel Ramogobedi on 082 499 8389 or Constable Gafane on 082 759 4905.

Police said all information relating to the case would be handled confidentially.

Malatji’s death left Seshego residents shocked and in distress. Residents, who used to gather around the dam for relaxation and entertainment in the past, are now loathe to visit the dam near where her body was discovered.
