Pretoria - Members of the Gauteng community safety department and the SA Police Service would conduct a raid at a Soshanguve school, north of Pretoria, where two pupils were stabbed with a knife, a spokesman said on Thursday.

“A bullying incident at Soshanguve Central Secondary resulted in the fatal stabbing of one learner and another was injured in the process,” spokesman Thapelo Moiloa told Sapa.

Apparently a 17-year-old pupil was bullied by two others and he went home to fetch a knife. Upon returning to the school he allegedly stabbed the two pupils.

“A pupil aged 17 died on the spot and the other one, 16 years of age, was taken to hospital. He was arrested on Monday and appeared in court on Tuesday where the matter was remanded to today (Thursday),” said Moiloa.

The pupil was kept in custody at a place for child offenders, Kusasa, in Cullinan. He would be moved to the Krugersdorp branch of the centre after Thursday's court appearance.

Gauteng community safety MEC Sizakele Nkosi-Malobane was expected to visit the families of the pupils. - Sapa
