Johannesburg - A 31-year-old man has appeared in the Ramsgate Magistrate’s Court in connection with the murder of a 60-year-old man whose body was found at the Wild Sea Cabana on the KwaZulu-Natal south coast.

Police spokesperson Major Thulani Zwane said Thabo Sukude appeared on Tuesday when the case was remanded to 8 August.

Sukude has been charged with murder following the discovery of the body of Nicholas Els from Cape Town earlier this month.

Zwane said: “On 13 July 2015 police were called to Wild sea Cabana in Ramsey Avenue where they found a decomposed body of Nicholas Els (60) with multiple stabbed wounds on the upper body.”

The deceased from Cape town was on holiday when he was attacked by the suspects, said Zwane.

Police traced down a suspect who was found in possession of the cellphone of the deceased.

“The other suspect is still at large. The motive for the killing is still unknown,” Zwane said.

KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni applauded the members for the arrest of the suspects, saying: “we will continue working hard as the South African Police Service to make sure that criminals are behind bar and those who are still on the run will be caught.”
