Pretoria - Police have taken statements from the two Sinoville policemen alleged to have threatened to rape and kill a Pretoria woman last week.

Nici van der Watt was stopped by policemen at about 3am last Monday. It is alleged that they asked her if she had ever been raped by a policeman.

Police spokeswoman Mirna von Benecke said the two officers had been informed of the allegations and had given statements. Asked if they were still on duty, she said: “Yes they are still at work.”

They could not be suspended because no crime had been proved, she said. Police had obtained CCTV footage from the petrol station where the alleged threats took place.
