Johannesburg - The father of world renowned South African flautist Wouter Kellerman has died in hospital, two weeks after he was seriously assaulted during a house robbery in Emmarentia, Johannesburg, Beeld reported on Monday.
Pieter Kellerman, 85, a retired banker, and his wife Susan, 75, both sustained serious injuries during the attack, during which they were robbed of R4 000 and items of jewellery.
“The last thing I can remember is unlocking the back door,” Susan Kellerman, a retired chemist, told Beeld.
During the attack, she was dragged around her house and kicked in her face and on her head.
Wouter Kellerman has meanwhile returned from abroad, where he was engaged in a series of music performances.
“It was horrific, brutal and completely unnecessary ... my father was deprived of quality time. I'm discussing options with a number of private detectives who can help us find the murderers,” he said.
Susan Kellerman said she had lived in her home for more than 30 years, but she didn't want to stay there anymore.
No arrests have been made, and a memorial service will be held at Wouter Kellerman's Ferndale home at 3pm on Tuesday. - Sapa
