I am an ex- parent of Rivonia Primary and I would like to comment on my and my childs experience at the school. Getting my daughter accepted at the school in Grade 0 was extremly difficult , although I had done so in time . After a meeting with the school and informing them that I will take them to the Dept of Education , then only was my child accepted . It saddens me when children are judged by their colour ,or if their parents are members of the PTA , OR if they are friends with the Principal and teacher.The insecurity and dent to my child and other little ones confidence due to the above is devastating .My child is taught to respect a person for their ability , strength of character and capabilities having to explain to her why she is judged by her colour is not hurtful and devastating to us and her. Is it so difficult for us adults to learn that colour is but skin deep.
