Rustenburg, North West - Two reservists were arrested for allegedly stealing from hawkers at a Rustenburg bus rank, North West police said on Wednesday.

“The two police reservists were collecting cash, counterfeit DVDs, CDs and cigarettes from members of the public and taking those items for themselves,” Brigadier Thulani Ngubane said in a statement.

The reservists, aged 28 and 35, were off-duty but in full uniform, and pretending to be patrolling the bus station.

Another policeman spotted the pair and had them arrested. The two were expected to appear in the Rustenburg Magistrate's Court on Thursday. - Sapa
