Limpopo police have offered a reward of R20 000 for help unravelling the kidnapping of a Tzaneen woman last month.

Misaveni Mavutana, 23, from Mulati village in Letsitele, was last seen when she went to withdraw money from an ATM in Tzaneen on October 20, Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said.

Police investigations revealed money was withdrawn from her account at a different ATM in Tzaneen, as well as one in Durban.

Police were searching for Richard Ndau, 29, of Duduza in Nigel, Gauteng, as it was believed he may have information relevant to the case.

Two weeks ago, residents stoned Ndau's cousin's spaza shop and set alight two of his vehicles, apparently because they suspected him of the kidnapping.

Police arrested 15 people, including a number of minors, believed to have been involved.

Ndau's cousin, who shot one of the looters in the leg, was not charged because he was acting in self defence, Mulaudzi said. – Sapa
