A Vietnamese man allegedly found with three rhino horns appeared in the Kempton Park Magistrate's Court on Monday, the SABC reported.

The matter was postponed until May 22 because a Vietnamese translator was not available.

That Thai Dung, 25, would remain in police custody.

He was arrested at OR Tambo International Airport on April 22 when the horns were allegedly found in his luggage.

Earlier, SA Revenue Service (Sars) spokesman Adrian Lackay said the man had travelled to South Africa before and was being closely monitored when he was arrested.

He said Dung faced various charges, including contravening the Customs and Excise Act. - Sapa
