Johannesburg - American comedian Joan Rivers isn’t known for giving sympathy to the celebrities she trashes on her weekly Fashion Police show. But she especially has no sympathy for paralympian Oscar Pistorius.

For the second time in a month, Rivers directly insulted Pistorius on her E! Entertainment show.

In the show’s most recent episode, Rivers slammed singer and dancer Cat Graham’s outfit by saying: “Cat’s outfit is so terrible on the scale of really bad ideas, it falls between marrying Charlie Sheen and using Oscar Pistorius’s bathroom.”

The distasteful joke wasn’t too well received apparently: her co-host Kelly Osbourne scolded her, screaming “Joan!” while the studio audience let out an audible gasp.

But the audience really shouldn’t have been too surprised because earlier in April, Rivers made Pistorius the butt of a similar fashion joke, saying of Hollywood celebrity Garcelle Beauvais’s shoes, “The footwear! I have not seen footwear this f***** up since Oscar Pistorius wobbled to the witness stand.”

Rivers has apparently harboured this grudge against Pistorius since he was charged with premeditated murder of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp on Valentine’s Day last year. On February 16 last year, Rivers tweeted: “Been reading about the murder charges facing Oscar Pistorius. I hope it doesn’t make it to trial… he doesn’t have a leg to stand on.”

The tweet received thousands of retweets and hundreds of favourites.

Pistorius is on trial in the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria.

The case is set to resume on Monday after a two-week recess.
