Vryheid - Money belonging to the Abaqulusi local municipality was taken in a brazen cash-in-transit heist staged outside the municipal offices on Friday, KwaZulu-Natal police said.
Police spokesman Thulani Zwane said a Group Four Security Services van had collected cash from the municipal offices in Vryheid when four armed men held up the van.
He said the security guard was disarmed and the four fled with an undisclosed sum of money.
A case of armed robbery had been opened.
