Durban - A man found guilty of killing his girlfriend was given two life terms in prison on Wednesday.

Gerald Rosselloty, 40, was sentenced to a further 15 years for arson by the Pietermaritzburg High Court.

Handing down sentence, Judge Rishi Seegobin described Rosselloty as a calculating, bloody-minded man who had a devastating impact on those around him.

He said Rosselloty's girlfriend Nokwazi Ntuli had suffered a cruel and undignified death.

“(Her) only crime was that she did not stay away from him, despite constant fighting and abuse,” said the Judge.

Rossolloty admitted to killing Ntuli and setting fire to the body.

During the trial, the court heard that Rossolloty also raped a six-year-old girl.

Rossolloty had previously been sentenced for two aggravated assaults. - Sapa
