Judge Sherise Erica Wiener continued judgment in the rape case of two female paramedics in the High Court in Johannesburg on Wednesday.

The accused, Richard Tshifhiwa Luruli, 29, and Michael Khorombi, 30, are accused of raping “Miss T” and “Miss R” at gunpoint in a veld in Durban Deep, Roodepoort, in March 2010.

The two face 15 counts, including rape, assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm, robbery, illegal possession of a firearm, and compelling another to perform sexual assault.

The women had responded to an emergency call to help a toddler with burn wounds.

The court had heard how the two men forced a male passerby, identified only as Mr P, to sexually assault one of the women. Mr P pretended to rape the woman.

Judgment continues. – Sapa
