A former 7de Laan actor will finally see justice for the murder of his father almost five years ago.

Pedro Camara, who played Carlos in the local soapie, says he is satisfied that three of the four accused of his father Abel’s murder have been found guilty.

Abel was shot twice in the chest in his Rawsonville bar on December 29, 2007, after closing time when four armed suspects stormed in.

Abel was killed and another man was left injured.

Worcester cops arrested Ashley Manukula, 22, who was a minor at the time, Samora Manisi, 27, Thanduxo Khohlakali, 28, and Alie Mpumlo, 27.

On Wednesday, Magistrate JH Breyl found Manisi, Manukula and Mpumlo guilty of murder and armed robbery. They will be sentenced in August.

Khohlakali was found innocent on all charges.

After the case, Pedro told the Daily Voice: “This does not bring back my father. It was a brutal and senseless murder... I miss my dad terribly.

“The murder is so senseless and barbaric... he was a defenceless old man. I am glad the case has ended... it was hell.”

Previously, Pedro told the media that the family’s biggest frustration was to hear the case might be crippled by “the police’s mistakes and neglect”.

Magistrate Beyl found the identification of Manukula’s firearm was not done to procedure and that two police testimonies were contradictory.

The ID parades were also only held months after the murder and a witness testimony was thrown out because he was drunk.

Outside court, Manukula’s mother Cynthia said the case cost her over R15 000 because she does not trust legal aid.

“I don’t trust the up-country justice system,” she says.

“Did you see, the judge is white, the prosecutor is white and the detective is white – what do you expect?”

When asked why her lawyer is white, she replies: “The people here in Worcester told me he is very good.”
