Johannesburg - An alleged racist attack on an employee at the World of Golf in Johannesburg is being investigated, the SA Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) said on Thursday.

“Although (the SAHRC) has not yet received an instruction or complaint from the victim (Nathan Maluleke), it has received a complaint from two members of the public,” spokesman Isaac Mangena said in a statement.

According to theme park owner Darryl Edges, a visitor racially abused Gary Player Golf Experience employee Maluleke on Saturday evening.

A fight ensued and Maluke was assaulted.

Mangena said the SAHRC had asked the World of Golf to share its investigation report, to assist the probe.

It would also speak to Maluleke once he was released from hospital.

“The commission strongly condemns racial intolerance in any form and encourages the public to work (with) greater commitment toward the achievement of a society rooted to respect, tolerance and non-racism.” - Sapa
