Three SA Social Security Agency (Sassa) officials accused of fraud appeared in the Mkobola Magistrate's Court on Friday, Mpumalanga police said.
The matter was postponed to May 5 for further investigation, said Colonel Leonard Hlathi.
Martha Ndala, Maria Ngwane, both 50, and Martha Thwala 42, were released on bail of R2000 each.
Two of the women were arrested on Thursday in KwaMhlanga and Enkangala, he said.
The other women handed herself over to the police on Friday.
Allegedly the women would recruit community members to apply for social grants through a middle man.
“After the approval, the middle man would inform the client to go and withdraw the money which would be about R3600 paid in arrears.”
The official would share R3 000 and give the applicant R600.
Mpumalanga police commissioner Lt-Gen Thulani Ntobela urged residents to report corrupt government officials.
“Community members who collude with public servants will be arrested and the law will not show them any mercy.”
