Johannesburg - Popular DJ Sibusiso Leope, charged for alleged drunk driving, would wait for blood test results before he could appear in court, Gauteng police said on Sunday.
“The matter is not set for court yet because we are awaiting his blood test results following his arrest for alleged drunk driving on Saturday,” said spokesman Luietenant Kay Makhubela.
Leope, known as DJ Sbu was nabbed driving a Porsche after 2am on Saturday during a stop and search along Main Reef Road in Randfontein. A breathalyser test allegedly showed that he was drunk, said Makhubela.
Leope was detained at Krugersdorp police station, and was later released on a R1500 bail. It was not the first time the outspoken Leope was arrested for traffic infringements.
In 2012, he allegedly collided with a vehicle transporting three security guards in Sandton. Leope was driving his former actress girlfriend Terry Pheto’s VW Polo at the time. One of the guards was injured in the crash.
In 2007, he was caught driving at 257km between Grasmere tollgate and Golden Highway, south of Johannesburg in a sponsored Audi TT roadster. The sponsors terminated their relationship with Leope and took back the sports car. Leope pleaded guilty and was fined R7000.
Last year, he was nabbed for clocking 170km in a 120km per hour zone along the N1 in Brooklyn, Pretoria.
