Durban - Five high school girls charged with assaulting a fellow pupil in their school toilet are to try to settle their differences through mediation, a court heard on Thursday.
The girls, between the ages of 16 and 18, appeared in the Durban Magistrate’s Court after the 15-year-old victim’s parents pressed charges.
The young girl was apparently knocked unconscious by the group of girls for allegedly kissing another girl’s boyfriend. The attack on June 1 went viral on social media after being captured on a cellphone video.
The two adult school girls are out on warning and the three minors were released into the care of their guardians.
