Pretoria -

School violence among pupils has again come under the spotlight following the alleged assault of a Hoërskool Wonderboom pupil by two fellow pupils.

A Grade 10 pupil was apparently scratched, hit and attacked by a boy and a girl from the same school on Monday afternoon.

Police spokeswoman Wanda Oliver confirmed that the police were investigating a case of assault.

According to Oliver the victim was on her way home from school with her younger sister, when the male suspect approached her on the corner of De Beer and 7th streets.

“He approached her and insulted her and then pushed her into a wall.

“A girl approached them and assaulted the victim,” Oliver said.

The child’s outraged mother took to Facebook on Tuesday over the incident.

She posted a picture of her daughter with blood dripping from open scratches on the child’s face, neck, arms and legs. The mother claimed that this was the third assault case opened against the female suspect, but Oliver couldn’t confirm those allegations.

The school could not be reached for comment by the time of going to print.
