Johannesburg - Criminal records of ex-convicts convicted of certain crimes should be scrapped, the Economic Freedom Fighters said in its founding manifesto.
“The levels of re-arrests in South Africa are very high, because the country's correctional services system is not corrective,” the protest movement said in its manifesto.
“The correctional service system should be transformed to include compulsory education and skilling for all prisoners.”
EFF said this would be followed by the scrapping the criminal records of some ex-convicts, depending on the seriousness of the crimes committed. - Sapa
