Port Elizabeth - Port Elizabeth police have arrested a second suspect in connection with the murder of two-year-old Caydene Ruiters, Eastern Cape police said on Thursday.

The toddler was struck by a stray bullet and killed during gang crossfire in December last year.

The little girl was standing in front of her house in Helenvale when the bullet struck her through the chest.

Police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu said a 29-year old man was arrested in Holland Park by members of the Gang Task Team on Thursday afternoon.

Meanwhile, the first suspect, 24-year-old Marcus Malgas, was arrested in December last year and has since appeared in court on a charge of murder.

Naidu said that Malgas would remain in custody until his next court appearance on March 7.

Police said that Malgas was also linked to two other shooting incidents in Gelvandale, with the charges relating to murder and attempted murder.
