Durban - A security guard was shot and seriously wounded at a construction site on the N2, near Durban's EB Cloete interchange, paramedics said on Wednesday.

Netcare 911 spokesman Chris Botha said paramedics found the man lying on a steep embankment with a gunshot wound to the back on Wednesday near the interchange, which is commonly known as Spaghetti Junction.

Police could not immediately comment.

Botha said that the man was taken to St Augustine's Hospital in a serious condition. - Sapa
