A man was shot and wounded by a security guard while allegedly trying to rob a shop in Ngqeleni, Mthatha, Eastern Cape police said on Friday.
The man and an accomplice demanded money from a cashier at knifepoint on Thursday, said Captain Zamukulungisa Jozana.
The security guard shot one of them and the other escaped.
The man was in a critical condition in hospital under police guard. – Sapa
