Bela Bela, Limpopo -
Six of eight security guards arrested for theft at a Bela Bela resort appeared in the town's magistrate's court on Thursday, Limpopo police said.
“All of the men face charges of housebreaking and theft,” Lt-Col Ronel Otto said.
Alfred Malete, 27, Anthony Faro, 41, Gabriel Kutu, 41, Godfrey Mashele, 33, Johannes Mokau, 33, and Samual Setshedi, 35, were released on bail of R1000 each. They would be back in court on September 27.
The other two accused, Amon Baloyi, 34 and Aubrey Mangwale, 31, remained in custody after their court appearance on Wednesday. They would be back in court again on September 4 for their bail application.
The eight were employed at the resort by Pentagon Security.
“Initial investigations indicate that the security guards were exchanging a master key among themselves. They monitored the movement of the visitors and when they left their chalets, they pounced.”
Laptops, cameras, and other goods were stolen. - Sapa
