Johannesburg - Owen Serero, who was part of a group of people arrested in connection with the attempted murder of investigators in Czech fugitive Radovan Krejcir's case, appeared briefly in the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court on Monday.

The case was postponed to June 23 because the results of the DNA samples which had been taken for forensic testing were outstanding.

The court heard that the matter was ready for trial.

During one of his appearances in March, the court heard that police found five cellphones and two hacksaws in his cell.

It was unclear how Serero, who had previously escaped from police custody, had obtained the phones and saws.

Serero, Krejcir, Siboniso Miya, Zoduma Biyela, Jacob Nare, Nkanyiso Mafunda and police sergeant Nandi Nkosi are alleged to have conspired to kill Colonel Nkosana “Killer” Ximba and forensic investigator Paul O'Sullivan. - Sapa
