Johannesburg - A man has been sentenced to an effective 40 years in jail by the Sebokeng Magistrate's Court on Friday for rape, kidnapping and possessing an unlicensed firearm, Gauteng police said.

Pule Andries Dahile, 27, was sentenced to 81 years, with 41 years suspended, on seven counts of rape, one of kidnapping and one for possession of a firearm, Lt-Col Katlego Mogale said,

“Dahile began his terror around 2011 when he raped his victims from Evaton and continued to terrorise the community until he was arrested in 2013, when one of the victim's boyfriends informed the police,” Mogale said.

His modus operandi was to attack women who were on their way home from nearby taverns.

“He would grab them by the neck, threaten to kill them and rape them.”
