Durban - Four men and two women were arrested for allegedly shooting and killing a man in KwaMashu, north of Durban, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Wednesday.

The group, aged between 26 and 56, were arrested during a police operation on Tuesday night, Captain Thulani Zwane said.

They approached Nqobani Zungu, 21, in the Siyanda area on December 29, allegedly shot and killed him, and fled in a VW Golf. The motive for his killing was unknown.

Five unlicensed pistols and a rifle were seized.

“One of the arrested suspect was found with five unlicensed firearms at KwaNdengezi and the other firearm was recovered at Inanda area,” Zwane said.

They would be sent for ballistic testing to establish if they were used in any other crimes. The group would appear in the Ntuzuma Magistrate's Court soon.
