Vosloorus - Six men accused of stealing from a scrapyard have been arrested in Vosloorus in the East Rand, the Ekurhuleni metro police said on Saturday.

The men were caught on Friday night in Somalia informal settlement after police were tipped off, said spokesman Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago.

“They were caught in their respective shacks with a total of ten vehicle batteries and 20kg of steel rods,” said spokesman Chief Supt. Wilfred Kgasago.

The men, aged between 22 and 36 had been on the run for days.

They were wanted for allegedly breaking into a scrapyard and stealing car batteries and steel rods.

They would appear in the Vosloorus Magistrate's Court on Monday to face charges of possession of suspected stolen property, said Kgasago.
