Johannesburg - A 75-year-old woman has been murdered in Winterveldt, north of Pretoria, allegedly by her two sons, police said on Monday.

Warrant-Officer Llifi Ramatlo said Kate Legodi, a day-care centre owner, was found hacked several times at her home on Thursday.

He said one of her sons, aged 43, had been arrested. A second son, aged 40, who was adopted, was on the run.

“The suspect was arrested on the same day. He is appearing in the Ga-Rankuwa Magistrate's Court today [Monday],” said Ramatlo.

He said Legodi's body was discovered on the floor of her adopted son's bedroom by one of her employees on Thursday.
