Johannesburg - A 24-year-old man was arrested for allegedly kidnapping and raping an 18-year-old woman on Monday in Jabulani, Soweto, Gauteng police said.
The man allegedly kidnapped the woman while she was returning from a tavern in the area at around 2.30am on Monday morning, said Warrant Officer Kay Makhubela.
“He took her to a shack and repeatedly raped her,” said Makhubela.
The woman was left in the shack but managed to escape and reported the incident at a nearby police station.
Upon her report, police apprehended the man at around 4.30am on Monday as he was coming into the yard.
“She was taken to a doctor for a medical examination and she taken for counselling,” said Makhubela.
The man would appear in the Protea Magistrate's Court soon. - Sapa
