Soweto taxi chairman shot dead

Johannesburg - A 51-year-old man was shot and killed while he was driving out of a friend's driveway in Zondi, Soweto on Tuesday, Gauteng police said.

The man, who is believed to be a chairman of a taxi association, was allegedly shot and killed by two men, said Warrant Officer Kay Makhubela.

Makhubela said that one live ammunition from an R5 rifle, ten empty R5 cartridges and four empty nine millimetre cartridges were found at the scene.

The motive for the killing was unknown and the men were still at large.
