Cape Town - Two teenagers accused of killing Cape Town schoolboy Glenrico Martin appeared in the Western Cape High Court on Friday.

Wilston Stoffels, 18, and Jevon Snyman, 19, would be back in court on November 22, and remained in custody.

The matter was postponed last month to Friday, after Russell Cloete, representing Legal Aid SA, told the court that an advocate still had to be allocated to represent Stoffels.

He said at the time that there were a number of cases pending in the high court, with multiple accused people all in need of free legal aid representation.

He said the situation had presented the legal aid authorities with difficulties that had not yet been resolved.

In Friday’s proceedings, he said an advocate to represent Stoffels had been identified, but Legal Aid SA needed until November 22 to sort out logistics.

State advocate Alta van der Merwe told the court that the case was on Friday’s roll to resolve the question of legal aid for Stoffels.

She said Snyman’s family had engaged privately funded attorney William da Grass.

Both men are in custody, having abandoned their bail applications in the Wynberg District Court, before the case was transferred to the high court.

Martin was shot in the head on Wednesday, May 15, whilst entering the Spes Bona Secondary School premises in Athlone, on the Cape Flats.
